The Forge

When you acquire a property - a smithy, a bakery, a noodle bar, a clinic, a brewery - the Forge activates. It tracks recipes, inputs, outputs, prices, and a workforce. You can hire a manager and let the shop run while you're elsewhere. The bread bakes. The coffers fill. The supply of flour fluctuates with the harvest.

The Forge is server-side, not dependent on the Narrator's memory. The scene holds while you are away. When you return, the system can calculate elapsed production already in motion under its normal rules.

What this means in play

• Inventory math survives. The dozen loaves you baked this morning are still there at dusk, even on turn 200.
• Prices shift with the world. A faction war disrupts the south-road supply route; flour prices climb. An early harvest in autumn means cheaper bread for the winter.
• Workers have lives. Mira learns the rye loaf across forty turns. Brother Tomas comes Tuesdays with grain. The smith's daughter buys honey rolls on rest-day.
• Properties grow. A successful shop can become a chain. A failing one can be sold or shuttered. The world tracks both.
• OOC repair hatches exist. If the AI hallucinates a coin you don't have, you can correct it; the engine accepts "[audit state]" or "[canonicalize currency]" commands and resyncs the ledger.

The deliberate trade-off

This isn't a hardcore economic sim. It's an RPG with a real economy underneath. If you want spreadsheet-deep optimisation, this is shallow. If you want the texture of a functioning small business inside a larger story, with supported economic state kept outside the prose, this is what we built.

The cozy worlds especially lean on this. Running a bakery is actually running a bakery. The numbers add up.
