The moon survived being broken. Now its makers have returned.

The Shattered Moon of Veyra is an alien biotech RPG set across a thousand inhabited fragments orbiting inside a gas giant's auroras. Veyra's peoples sail on gravity currents, grow bridges from luminous coral, and fight with living weapons. The empire that broke the moon nine hundred years ago has returned to harvest its exposed core. The first spindle descends in one hundred days.

How do you make an alien RPG feel alien?

Changing skin color and adding a forehead ridge is not enough. An alien world becomes convincing when bodies, senses, tools, and geography change the ordinary choices people make. Veyra starts there. Its four-armed Khelt build martial forms around simultaneous reach and defense. Crystal-scaled Orathi store heat and memory in their skin plates. Winged Sael ride charged aurora currents. Mycelial Namar share sensation and inherited dreams through their spore colonies.

None of those bodies decides a person's loyalty or profession. Mixed settlements are common, adoption can matter more than ancestry, and every lineage contains rivals, collaborators, traditionalists, and people who want to leave the old categories behind. The result is alien without becoming a row of biological stereotypes.

A battlefield made of gravity

Veyra was cracked into fragments ranging from city blocks to continents. Some carry seas or forests. Others are bare mountains, pilgrimage stations, grazing grounds, or wreckage from the first extraction. Their gravity fields overlap and shift. A bridge can miss its destination. A tide can climb a wall. A migration route can end in empty sky.

That makes movement part of every fighting style. A warrior can launch from one fragment's pull, turn inside a neutral pocket, and land under another fragment's horizon. Winged hunters read aurora charge. Sail crews grow temporary rigging around living hulls. Cutting a bridge or flight route can strand a population, so a tactical victory can create a humanitarian disaster several fragments away.

Biotechnology is culture, not decoration

Living technology is woven into daily life. Coral bridges are cultivated. Symbiotic armor responds to a wearer's body. Memory Gardens preserve impressions in the spores of the dead. Vessels cross the void on grown sails. Weapons can hold instincts, lineages, and unfinished commands.

Living systemWhat it changes in play
Command weaponA tool with memory, appetite, and a claim on ancient authority
Symbiotic armorProtection that must suit the wearer and can react under stress
Memory sporesEvidence carried through sensation rather than a written archive
Gravity sailsTravel shaped by living rigging, orbital weather, and crew judgment

You begin by inheriting a living command weapon during the Convergence. It can become a battlefield advantage, a political claim, a witness to Veyra's breaking, or all three. Carrying it makes you important. Understanding what it wants is a different problem.

The invaders may be right about the danger

Nine hundred years ago, the Helion Ascendancy cracked Veyra while extracting heartglass from its core. Now its ships have returned with mining cathedrals, treaty envoys, and weapons designed for Veyran bodies. They claim the moon's orbit is failing and that extraction is the only way to prevent a total collapse.

The orbit really is changing. That prevents the conflict from collapsing into a simple choice between noble resistance and an obviously false empire. Collaboration may save lives. Resistance may reveal why Helion armies vanished during the first extraction. Memories inside newly awakened heartglass show Veyrans working beside Helions before the breaking. Far inward, the Null Pilgrims hear a voice called the First Wound and believe Veyra shattered itself to imprison something.

Choose what kind of survivor you become

You can unite fragments, join the stabilization mission, expose its hidden orders, evacuate a people, rebuild an ancient prison, seize heartglass power, or decide that neither empire nor ancestor gets to choose Veyra's future. A Khelt fighter and a Namar seer can approach the same crisis through entirely different senses and social obligations. The world changes around both.

Forge a future Champion no other world could produce

Arena is still an upcoming concept, and details may change before the gates open. Its strongest direction is simple: a Champion should be shaped by where they came from. Veyra creates fighters whose bodies, movement, living equipment, and loyalties cannot be separated from the shattered moon that trained them.

Begin now and your future Champion can arrive with a command weapon that has already chosen its voice, protection grown for a particular body, and a keepsake tied to one of Veyra's fragments. The profile will show a fighter. The history behind it will explain why that fighter is unlike anyone else in the Arena.

Questions about The Shattered Moon of Veyra

What is an alien biotech RPG?

It is a science-fantasy roleplaying world where living materials, symbiotic organisms, and engineered bodies fill roles that another setting might give to metal machines or magic. On Veyra, armor can grow, weapons can remember, and bridges can be cultivated between moon fragments.

Are Veyra's people human?

No. Veyra is centered on related but distinct nonhuman peoples with different bodies, senses, lifecycles, and traditions. Culture and adopted clan identity still matter more than biology, so no lineage dictates a single profession or allegiance.

What characters can I play on Veyra?

You can begin as a four-armed Khelt warrior, crystal-scaled Orathi keeper, winged Sael void hunter, mycelial Namar seer, mixed-settlement defender, clan exile, living-ship sailor, or another role rooted in fragment life.

Why did the Helion Ascendancy return?

The Helions claim Veyra's orbit is failing and that renewed heartglass extraction is the only way to stabilize it. Their calculations are convincing and the orbital danger is real, but their hidden orders and the moon's own memories complicate every promise.

Can I play The Shattered Moon of Veyra now?

Yes. The Shattered Moon of Veyra is live in the Creation OS Showcase. You can borrow the world, choose your lineage and calling, and begin during the Convergence with one hundred days left.
