The World Showcase

Share your worlds with the community. Pro subscribers can publish any world they have built, letting other players jump in and experience it from scratch.

How Publishing Works

When you publish a world, Creation OS takes a snapshot of your world at that moment: the codex, characters, locations, factions, quests, items, genre, and thumbnail. This snapshot becomes the published version. Your original world is unaffected, and you can keep playing it as normal.

Other players who click "Play" on your published world get a brand new story created from that snapshot. They start fresh with a character interview, their own inventory, and their own story. Your world is the starting point, but their adventure is their own.

Frozen Snapshots

Publishing creates a frozen copy. If you update your world after publishing, the published version stays as it was. To update the showcase version, just publish again - it overwrites the previous snapshot.

Publishing a World (Pro Only)

  1. Open the World Selector (the screen where you pick which world to play)
  2. Hover over the world you want to publish - a Publish button appears in the top-left corner
  3. Click Publish to open the publish form
  4. Fill in the details:
    • Description (up to 300 characters), a short blurb that appears on your showcase card
    • Publisher Alias (optional), the name shown as the creator. Defaults to your email prefix if left blank
  5. Click Confirm to publish

Your world card will now show a green Published badge. Click it to unpublish at any time.

Pro Required

Publishing is a Pro subscriber feature. You need an active Pro subscription to publish worlds. All logged-in users (including free accounts) can browse and play published worlds.

Browsing the Showcase

There are two ways to find published worlds:

  • In the app - Switch to the Showcase tab in the World Selector. Browse cards, filter by genre, and click Play to jump in.
  • On the website - Visit creationos.io/showcase to browse published worlds. Clicking "Play this World" takes you straight into the app.

Each showcase card shows the world name, genre, description, creator alias, and how many times it has been played.

Playing a Community World

When you play a published world:

  1. A new world is created in your account, pre-loaded with the published world's setting
  2. You go through the character interview to create your character for that world
  3. You play in Play Mode only, no Codex editing (it is someone else's world, after all)
  4. Your world is fully persistent: chapters, saves, equipment, and story progression all work normally
  5. Normal Spark costs apply per turn

Community worlds show a small Community pill on your world card so you can tell them apart from worlds you built yourself.

Deep Links

You can share a direct link to any published world. The format is https://app.creationos.io?play_world=WORLD_ID. Anyone who clicks it will be taken straight into that world after signing in.

Tips for Publishers

  • Write a good description - You only get 300 characters. Focus on the hook: what makes your world interesting?
  • Build before you publish - The more characters, locations, and lore you have, the richer the experience for players
  • Pick a clear genre - Your world's genre determines the visual theme and narrator style for everyone who plays it
  • Choose a memorable alias - This is your creator name on every showcase card
